Planning for Enid’s tenth annual Scare on the Square is under way. Scare on the Square is a free, family friendly, fun for all ages Halloween festival that will take place on the courthouse lawn on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be costume contests for all ages, including adults and best group, a Halloween Queen pageant for women over 18, a night time costume parade, a jack-o-lantern contest, a best apple or pumpkin recipe contest, candy, caramel apples, hot dogs, and all manner of Halloween goodies.
The festival was created to ensure that all Enid children had a fun, safe, and affordable place to celebrate Halloween. The Enid Police Department, the Enid Fire Department, and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department will all be represented at the festival as well as several other community organizations.
Scare on the Square planners encourage friendly competition between friends and organizations in the float contest and would also like to encourage any local car clubs or organizations to participate in the parade. If you are interested in participating or would like to enter a float in the parade, please firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Scare on the Square is put together solely by support through sponsorships and donations from the community. If you would like to be a sponsor or have a booth at the event, please contact email@example.com. There is no fee for having a booth other than bringing candy to pass out. Donations of candy are also greatly appreciated.
In conjunction with the Scare on the Square is the annual city wide Scarecrow Contest which begins October 1, 2012. Prizes will be awarded to the best residence and the best business and are based on originality and creativity. In order to enter, simply place your scarecrow in front of the home or business and contact the event coordinators with your information.
