Scare on the Square

This year’s Scare on the Square has a special treat – THE WEDDING OF DR. FEAR!  And you’e all invited!  6:15pm!

Planning for Enid’s ninth annual Scare on the Square is under way.  Scare on the Square is a free, family friendly, fun for all ages Halloween festival that will take place on the courthouse lawn on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  There will be costume contests for all ages, including adults and best group, a Halloween Queen pageant for women over 18, a night time costume parade, a jack-o-lantern contest, a best apple or pumpkin recipe contest, candy, caramel apples, hot dogs, and all manner of Halloween goodies.

Scare on the Square planners encourage friendly competition between friends and organizations in the float contest and this year’s parade will also include a Zombie Army and a Harry   Potter Wizard Posse.  If you are interested in participating with either of these groups or would like to enter a float in the parade, please contact for more information.

Scare on the Square is put together solely by support through sponsorships and donations from the community.  If you would like to be a sponsor or have a booth at the event, please contact  There is no fee for having a booth other than bringing candy to pass out.  Donations of candy are also greatly appreciated.

In addition, the City Wide Scarecrow Contest will commence Oct. 1 – place a scarecrow in your yard or in front of your place of business and contact us at to let us know where it is. Scarecrows will be judged on creativity. Prize awarded at Scare on the Square. One residence and one business will win and there will be pictures of all of them in a photo gallery online so everyone can enjoy them.
